Omg! The sushi here is so freaking goooooood!! We've been training for the Xterra Laguna Beach Triathlon so we look for anti-inflammatory meals like sushi. Plus! We get extra ginger for its anti-inflammatory properties. Today we ordered:
The Dragon Roll, King Roll, and Heaven Roll.
The Dragon Roll is a baked roll, I'm guessing because of the delicious eel. The eel sauce is sooooo gooooood!
The King Roll has scallops, tempura, spicey salmon, rice, plus my favorite masaigo with spicy mayo! Oh baby!
The Heaven Roll was my favorite last time. It's a refreshing roll on a hot day. My beaten and battered body leaned towards the other two dishes today.
The restaurant is very clean. There is plenty of seating and looks like they can combine tables for a party of 20.  The service is great. The chefs are awesome! They were able to put these quality dishes together freaking quick! I very highly recommend this restaurant! Don't second guess this place. Great sushi is hard to come by.

    We love Tomo!

You can't go wrong really with anything here.   All of the Sushi is always very fresh and delicious.

They have great rolls like the Fuji Mountain and their nigiri is always awesome and fresh.

Their bentos are great also.   Combo dinners and bentos are awesome.   The value is great also.

Parking is easy and you can always watch your favorite game too as they have TVs.

I came back to Tomo after 3+ years after hearing they were under new management.

Apparently they have done away with their All You Can Eat special, and I think it suits them.

To vet them, I tried a standard spicy tuna roll. The fish was good quality and fresh. The roll had a nice heat to it with lots of flavor. Not too bland but not overly hot.

I'll be back to give Tomo my business again.

What a find in South OC! I was craving sushi and my s.o was craving Korean soup. Most places that offer decent Korean food will be in Irvine, but this place is so close.  My s.o got their beef broth soup and it was great!  It came with kimchi and some other sides too.  We had the mussels appetizer, which is one of my go-to's at sushi places and there were a good amount of toppings on them. I got the beef teriyaki bento box with spicy tuna roll.  It came with a salad and some rice as well.  Overall good quality and affordable. I like that there were Korean stews as well! Attentive staff that gave a healthy balance of checking in and privacy. Will be back to try other items!

I have drove by this place for over 2 years and finally made my way into their establishment.  They are located in a strip mall facing El Toro.  You can't miss it and if you do... I don't really know what to say.

When it comes to great sushi, you expect fresh.  As simple as that.  It may be cut differently, prepared or presented a certain way... but in the end, fresh fish speaks volume.  One good indication whether the sashimi is good or not is by its freshness.  It usually doesn't have a fishy smell or chewy consistency.. unless its squid or octopus that warrants such texture.  It should be smooth, breaks down with ease and leaves this soft buttery aftertaste.  Paired with ginger and the right amount of wasabi, its quite delightful.  Chef Roy was the individual that served us that night.  He was pleasant to speak with and gave us informative knowledge about the types of fish, slight history, and recommendation base of preference.  This made the experience more memorable.  In the end, its the memory that you recollect later that matters.

Service for us during our visit was great.  Not sure how we ended up with 3-4 different servers but that ok.  Sometimes, you just need all the help you can get.  Especially when its Friday and dinner rush started to pick up.

Overall, I would love to come back to this establishment and enjoy good food while being close to home.  Always the best combo. :)
